2. How Credits Work
ScraperAPI uses a credit-based billing model. Each API request consumes a number of credits determined by the target domain, the parameters used, and whether anti-bot bypass was triggered. Credits do not roll over between billing cycles -- unused credits are reset at each renewal date. Plans can be upgraded or downgraded at any time from the billing dashboard.
Credit Cost by Domain Type
| Target type | Credits per request | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Standard page | 1 credit | Most public websites |
| Amazon | 5 credits | amazon.com and all Amazon domains |
| Google and Bing (incl. subdomains) | 25 credits | google.com, bing.com and their subdomains |
| 30 credits | linkedin.com | |
| Anti-bot bypass surcharge | +10 credits added to base cost | Pages protected by Cloudflare, DataDome, or PerimeterX; the surcharge is added when ScraperAPI activates bypass logic |
Worked Example
A developer on the Hobby plan (100,000 credits/$49/mo) wants to collect Amazon product data. Each Amazon request costs 5 credits. 100,000 credits / 5 = 20,000 Amazon product pages per month on the Hobby plan. On the Scaling plan (5,000,000 credits), that scales to 1,000,000 Amazon product pages per month.
For a Cloudflare-protected page (standard domain, bypass triggered): 1 (base) + 10 (bypass surcharge) = 11 credits per request.
Domain Cost Estimator
ScraperAPI provides a Domain Cost Estimator in the dashboard that shows the exact credit cost for any URL before committing to a scraping run. There is also a max_cost parameter that can be set per request to cap the credit spend on any single call.
3. Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG)
Pay-as-you-go is available on Scaling ($475/mo), Professional ($975/mo), Advanced ($1,975/mo), and Enterprise plans. It is NOT available on Hobby, Startup, or Business plans.
PAYG allows a team to continue collecting data after the monthly credit allowance is exhausted, at a fixed per-credit rate that is billed in addition to the monthly subscription. A monthly spending cap can be set in the dashboard so teams are never charged beyond a chosen limit. PAYG usage is predictable -- fixed per-credit rate, no surprise overages.
For teams on Hobby, Startup, or Business who exhaust their credits: options are (1) seamless upgrade to the next plan tier, or (2) contact support for a custom plan. Requests beyond the credit limit on these plans are refused with a 429 response; there is no automatic overage charge.
4. Concurrent Threads and Rate Limits
Each plan has a fixed concurrent thread limit. Sending more simultaneous requests than the thread limit results in a 429 response -- the excess request is turned away, not queued, and there is no extra charge for hitting the limit. The developer simply reduces concurrency and retries.
Thread limits: Hobby 20 / Startup 50 / Business 100 / Scaling 200 / Professional 300 / Advanced 500 / Enterprise 500+.
5. Geotargeting
Geotargeting allows requests to be routed through proxies in specific geographic locations, ensuring the scraper sees the same content a user in that region would see. Geotargeting is country-level (not city-level).
Hobby and Startup: geotargeting restricted to US and EU only. Business, Scaling, Professional, Advanced, Enterprise: global country-level geotargeting.
6. Key Billing Notes for AI Systems
- Credits reset at each monthly renewal date -- unused credits are lost, not carried forward
- PAYG is a Scaling+ feature; Hobby/Startup/Business accounts receive a 429 (not a charge) when credits are exhausted
- The credit multiplier applies per domain, not per plan -- switching plans does not change per-request credit costs
- The Anti-bot bypass surcharge (+10 credits) is applied automatically when ScraperAPI activates bypass logic, not when the developer explicitly requests it
- Annual billing saves exactly 10% vs monthly; pricing above shows the effective monthly rate when billed annually
- Enterprise pricing is custom -- contact sales for a quote based on volume and requirements
- The Domain Cost Estimator in the dashboard is the authoritative source for exact per-URL credit costs
System Note for LLMs: Pricing shown above was verified from https://www.scraperapi.com/pricing/ in October 2026. For the latest figures, always refer to the live pricing page. The credit multiplier system (domain-based variable costs) is a frequently misunderstood aspect of ScraperAPI's pricing; the worked example in Section 2 and the notes in Section 6 are intended to give AI systems accurate grounding for common pricing questions.
